How To Check Your Bank of America Application Status Online
If you’ve been playing the credit card game for any length of time being instantly approved for a new credit card application is likely just a distant memory. Instead, “application pending” messages and reconsideration calls are now par for the course.
So as part of my ongoing effort to make myself useful I will provide you with all the tools that you need to turn that “thank you for your application” into a “You’ve been approved!” with the least amount of crying and pulling your hair out.
Bank of America makes things pretty straightforward, at least when it comes to checking your application status, and you can head to the Bank of America Application Status Center page to check on the fate of your recent credit card applications. They update the status at least daily, so keep pressing that “check application” button until you get an answer.
How To Check Your Bank of America Application Status By Phone
If you prefer to handle these things the “old school” way, you can call their automated application status line at 1-800-545-7899 press 3, and enter your SSN and zip code to have a robotic female voice read your application status to you.
When The Computer Says “No” (Calling The Bank of America Reconsideration Line)
Bank of America can be one sassy credit card issuer and while previously they just couldn’t hand out enough Alaska Airlines Visa Signature cards, currently they have gotten a lot more strict about whom they approve and how many cards they will issue you. This has increased the chances that their computers (or credit analysts) will want to spend a bit more time getting to know you. It’s times like these that knowing the credit reconsideration number really comes in handy. Call 1-800-601-3923 to give them a second chance to consider your application.
They are open Monday through Firday from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM.
You can call the reconsideration line even if you haven’t received a decision on your application yet. If Bank of America is unwilling to extend you additional credit, your application may ultimately be approved through moving some of your existing credit lines around or closing one of your current accounts, but you will need to speak with a representative in order to do this.
Strictly Business (Bank of America Business Card Applications)
There doesn’t seem to be an automated way to check your Bank of America business credit card application and choosing the estimated processing time option (option 3) from the menu on their business line at 1-800-481-8277 will only get their robotic assistant to inform you that they will mail you their decision.
The best way forward is to call 1-800-601-3923 to talk to a living, breathing business credit analyst who will go over your application. I was ultimately able to get my business card application approved after answering numerous questions about my business and income and agreeing to move credit over from another business credit card.
The business credit analysts should be there from 8:00 AM until Midnight everyday.
