How To Check Your Citibank Credit Card Application Status Online
If you’ve been playing the credit card game for any length of time being instantly approved for a new credit card application is likely just a distant memory. Instead, “application pending” messages and reconsideration calls are now par for the course.
So as part of my ongoing effort to make myself useful I will provide you with all the tools that you need to turn that “thank you for your application” into a “You’ve been approved!” with the least amount of crying and pulling your hair out.
Citibank makes things pretty straightforward, at least when it comes to checking your application status, and you can head to the Citi online application status check page to check on the fate of your recent credit card applications.
How To Check Your Citi Application Status By Phone
If you prefer to check on the status of your application by phone, you can call their automated application status line at 1-888-201-4523 and enter your SSN to have a robotic female voice read your application status to you.
How To Check Your Citi Costco Credit Card Application By Phone
It seems that Citi may has a separate division handling their Costco credit Card applications as they have a separate line to call for checking the status of your application. To check the status of your Citi Costco credit card application call 1-877-343-4118.
When The Computer Says “No” (Calling The Citi Reconsideration Line)
I have found Citi to be pretty generous about issuing credit cards to new and existing customers. That being said, denials do happen and when they do it’s time to pick up that phone and take another swing at getting approved.
If your application is initially denied you should call the credit reconsideration department at 1-800-695-5171 to give them a second chance to consider your application. The credit reconsideration department is open from 8:00 AM until midnight everyday.
You can call the reconsideration line even if you haven’t received a decision on your application yet. If Citi is unwilling to extend you additional credit, your application may ultimately be approved through moving some of your existing credit lines around, but you will need to speak with a representative in order to do this.
Strictly Business (Citi Business Card Applications)
To check your Citi Business card application call 1-800-645-7240 and enter your social security number to check the status of your application. If you received an application pending message or denial then call 1-800-763-9795 to talk to a living, breathing business credit analyst who will go over your application.
The business credit analysts will be there from 7:00 AM until midnight everyday.

Called the reconsideration line and the operator was not able to give me detailed information as to why I was rejected, but she mentioned that having another Citi card opened within the last 30 days could have been the reason.
